Third Region Umpires Association Membership
1. Each member must join the Kentucky High School Athletic Association (See below)
2. Members must attend all meetings and clinics
3. New members do not have to pay annual membership dues for first year. Every season after completion of first year, membership dues will be $60.00.
The KBUA is open to anyone regardless of gender, age, race, religion, national origin, sexual orientation or special needs.
KHSAA Membership:
1. Applicant must be a graduate of an accredited high school and be at least 18 years of age.
2. Applicant must complete a KHSAA New Official's Application. This application can be found at www.khsaa.org/officials or can be sent to you via mail at address below. All background questions must be answered accurately to qualify for licensing approval. Background checks are routinely made.

3. Applicant must pay KHSAA membership dues of $45 for first sport and $25 for each additional sport.
4. The KHSAA offers a discounted license of $25 and $15 for full-time college students (12hrs) with verification of a full-time class schedule.
5. Complete the NFHS Part I Examination. This is an open book examination which must be completed
by published deadlines. Your licensing is not complete and therefore you are ineligible to offi ciate grades 9-12
contests until this examination has been completed and a score of at least 70 percent is attained. The Part I exam can be taken twice to obtain the required score.
6. After the Part I exam has been completed, grades will be processed by KHSAA staff. Examinations are
processed on not less that a weekly basis. PLEASE ALLOW A MINIMUM OF FIVE BUSINESS DAYS FOR
STAFF PERSONNEL TO REPORT YOUR RESULTS. If you have passed the examination, you will receive
your offi ciating license and you will be placed on an updated listing of officials on the KHSAA website, www.
khsaa.org. This list is updated not less than weekly.
